July 14
• A neighbor called dispatch to report someone had stolen wood from 6551 Farm to Market Road while the homeowner was at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.
July 15
• Eddy Chumley was arrested at Shopko after his ex-wife reported that earlier he was throwing items around the house and had possibly been drinking.
• A man called dispatch to report someone had stolen his mother’s mail from her home at 1312 Main Ave.
• A concerned citizen called dispatch about two kids entering a seemingly empty house. Officers found the boys to be related to the house owner and were waiting for her to return with paintbrushes to begin repairs.
July 16
• One man hit a deer with his vehicle on Highway 37 en route to Eureka. The driver reported to be uninjured with minimal damage to his car. Dispatch requested the man fill out a state accident form in Eureka for Montana Highway Patrol.
• A resident of 187 Cedar Meadow Road called 911 to report suspicous activity after someone had shot his upright freezer overnight.
• A bartender at the Pastime Bar & Lounge requested officers to respond to a young man who came in twice and was unable to provide an ID. The man left toward Highway 2 but was not located by officers.
July 17
• A man called dispatch to report his firearm was missing after having an argument with his wife. The man was concerned and reported that she had made suicidal comments in the past, albeit not that morning. She would not allow him to search near her for the firearm. The husband requested an ambulance for the woman, reporting she was having a panic attack and explaining chest pain. The woman refused medical help while officers cleared the scene.
• A Rosauers employee called about a confrontational man refusing to leave the store, describing him as explosive. The man left toward Ace Hardware and Aitken’s Quik Stop where dispatch received another call about the man. An employee described a man acting strange, screaming at his water bottle and kicking something outside.
• A theft was reported near J. Neils Park.
• A driver called dispatch from Butcher Creek Road to report someone placing nails on the road. The driver reported to have seven nails in four new tires.
• A driver called to report juveniles had been throwing water balloons at vehicles driving by Libby High School. The juveniles were suspected to be hiding near a maintenance crew vehicle.
• A resident of River’s Edge Trailer Park called 911 as he watched a man break into his neighbor’s home. Officers found the man to be a friend of the homeowner, entering the home with as little damage as possible.
July 18
• The Methodist Church pastor called to report damage to the building. More information was given to officers by witnesses living across the street.
• An employee at the Lake Koocanusa Marina called to report a man had threatened him a few days ago. The employee believed the man to live on Warland Creek Road, and simply wanted the threat on record if he wanted to follow up on the report.
• A man called Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks for assistance with a sick bear cub near the airport.
July 19
• A man called dispatch from near the Nickleback Quarry about dusting that was stirring up from the Zonolite Mill site, reporting that he wanted action taken for health issues.
• A resident of 19 Dome Mountain Ave. called to report cash had been stolen from his home.
• A clerk at Libby Sports Center called dispatch to request an officer’s assistance after a shoplifter had been caught on camera.
• A driver called dispatch from Kootenai River Road to report having hit a bighorn sheep, which now needed to be put down. Fish, Wildlife & Parks took care of the animal.
• A man reported items stolen from his vehicle near Libby Creek.
• Derrick Mitchell was arrested on warrant at the Past Time Bar & Lounge.
July 20
• A minor was caught in possession of alcohol at a residence near Rocky Lake Road.
• A concerned friend called about a woman fighting with her boyfriend. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach the woman at her boyfriend’s home, the caller dialed 911. She called back after having contacted the boyfriend who was bringing her friend to St. John’s Lutheran Hospital. Officers assisted the caller in arriving at St. John’s.
• A woman called dispatch to report a purse had gone missing from her vehicle during the previous night while parked behind the Pastime Bar & Lounge.
• A neighbor from 109 East 5th St. called dispatch concerned about an elderly woman repeatedly coming out to yell at her daughter and grandchildren next door.
July 21
• The owner of the Red Dog Saloon called dispatch to report an employees had found what she believed may be a human hand. Later tests proved that the decomposed figure was an old bear paw.
• A McDonalds employee called 911 to report smoke coming from the storage shed behind the building. Libby Volunteer Fire Department quickly handled the situation.
• Toni Smith was arrested on warrant for possession of dangerous drugs.
• Shots were reported fired at 55 Lupis Lane.
July 22
• Dispatch received a call about fight in progress near 10th Street and Louisiana Avenue. The caller reported someone to be calling for help. Responding officers found two men to be wrestling with a dog, and cleared the scene.
• Several bicycles were reported stolen from a motorhome near Kootenai Falls.
• A woman called for assistance with a deer in her driveway.
• A driver called 911 after hitting a deer with their car near Young Guns Pizza. Dispatch asked the driver to fill out a state accident form.
• Frederick Webb was arrested on warrant near Highway 2 and Chapel Flats Road.
• Angela Hutson was arrested on warrant and released in Eureka.
• A resident of 427 Reserve Road reported several weapons missing.
