Libby and Troy’s track teams lost a meet from their schedule this weekend as the Bigfork Invitational was canceled because of snow.

Snow and rain washed out several other high school sporting events in western Montana on Saturday.

Bigfork’s track and field invite and the Missoula Invitational tennis meet were both canceled and will not be rescheduled.

The Bigfork Invitational began at 9:30 a.m., but was called off an hour later because snow made the track unsafe.

“We held on to the last minute, but in the end it was in the best interest of the kids,” Bigfork activities director Matt Porrovecchio said.

Fifteen schools ranging from Libby to Cut Bank attended the meet, which was canceled for the first time in at least five years.

Libby gets a chance to recover with a conference duel in Columbia Falls on Tuesday. Troy must wait until Saturday’s Libby Invite for its next action. The Libby meet begins at 10 a.m.
