The Libby High School softball team ran into a wall Thursday night, as reigning state champion Polson took advantage of errors and smashed their way to a 11-1 win in a mercy-rule shortened game.

Polson and Frenchtown will likely battle not only for the Northwest A title, but for the A state title as well.

It was evident in the Lady Pirates’ batting.

Polson shredded Libby’s ace pitcher, sophomore Hannah England, for 14 hits and 11 runs in five innings.

In her defense, Libby’s fielding may have done as much damage as the Lady Pirates’ bats.

“We are a young team and we knew what they were going to do to us,” said Head Coach Dean Thompson. “We’ve got to take what they give us, and we didn’t do that today.”

England redeemed herself in the batters box, going 2-for-2 with singles.
