Disappointed in low support for health center

| April 9, 2013 9:00 AM

Letter to the Editor,

Unlike too many rural communities in our country, Lincoln County has a great primary-care facility.

The Northwest Community Health Center uses the team concept for treatment, as well as a sliding scale of payment for its clients.

We even benefit from a dental clinic. As an employer, the clinic gives back to the community through wages and local business use.

In an effort to show our elected officials the value of this clinic, a breakfast was planned for a pleasant Saturday morning in early March. Of those invited — three local congressmen, the County Council and the three Lincoln County mayors — none came. In addition, none sent so much as a note of acknowledgment.

It is more than fair to expect participation and civility from our elected officials. Come on, this is Montana, we know how to be courteous and to have a good time while doing so.
