There is another choice movie-lovers have from which to choose.

Silver Screen Movies, located at 413 W. Ninth St., opened last Saturday, at the site formerly occupied by Reel Time Movies.

The new store, which is owned by Monica Schultz, will rent DVDs, TV series and games. The store also will sell in-stock movies of older vintage.

“I’m excited. We’re brand new,” Schultz said. “I am a first-time business owner, but I’ve been in this business for the last four years, and I have been a movie buff all my life.”

Owning a business is something Schultz said she has been considering for some time.

“I just kind of fell into this opportunity. I worked for them full time, and when this building became available, I thought this just might be the right time to start my business. I’ve wanted to have my own business for years,” Schultz said.

The Silver Screen will offer newly released movies for $3.50 per day. Movies that are 30 days or more past their release date are $1.25 a day or three days for $3. TV series collections rent for six days at a cost of $5.

Schultz also offers special-order requests for that hard-to-find movie.

“I can order movies customers want, if we don’t have it here,” she said. “I can also special order any game, too.”

The Silver Screen, which also offers snacks and popcorn, is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

The phone number is 291-5020.
