Valentine, Nelson commit to Dillon

Two Libby High School football players recently signed letters of intent to play at University of Montana – Western in Dillon.

Seniors Kraig Nelson and Patrick Valentine commited to play for the Bulldogs after successful individual senior seasons. 

Valentine was one of the most powerful and most consistent kickers in the state during his senior season. He began to shoulder some other offensive capabilities as a hybrid running back. 

“I’m pretty excited,” Valentine said of signing with the Bulldogs. “I’ll just be a kicker though. It’s definitely a good feeling.”

Nelson has an interesting tale to tell as well. He played the first three seasons in high school as a lineman, but converted to tight end his senior year. He made an effective target for quarterback Jared Winslow.

Dillon had him sign as – what else? – a tight end.

“That’s kind of unexpected,” Nelson said. “From being a lineman for three years. It worked out good.”

The Loggers finished with a record of 3-6 this season. The Bulldogs of Dillon clocked in at 4-6.
