The Trojans remain winless after the Eureka Lions were able to stave off Troy’s football team in last weekend’s 36-14 game.

It was the first win of the season for Eureka, and improved the Lions to 1-3. Troy is at 0-4.

Eureka pulled ahead 15-0 before Troy’s quarterback Gabe Hickman ran it in from 5 yards out. Hickman would run in a two-point conversion later in the game.

Running back Luke Haggerty would pass to his brother, wide receiver Andrew Haggerty for the second Trojan score of the night.

The Lions pulled away on two touchdowns in the second half. The Trojans were driving when Nikko Bakkala picked Hickman off and dashed 95 yards the other way for the final score.

Eureka quarterback Chris Ibach threw for one touchdown, rushed for 207 yards another touchdown and two two-point conversions.

The next game, a home match-up against the Bigfork Vikings, looms large over Troy. Bigfork is 4-0 and picked up a 2-0 win over Plains after the very-injured Horsemen were knocked down to only 15 players by the same Loyola team that knocked Troy.

Bigfork beat shared opponent Ronan 35-8 for their opener.

“I know they’re good and I know we will have problems,” head coach Jim Dasios said. “They outnumber people.”
