One thing you can say about cross-country teams is that given enough time in a season, they will get faster.

Such is the case with Libby’s team this season, as the young runners have shown marked improvement.

At Frenchtown last Wednesday, the teams got a preview of the divisional meet and decided to make a mark.

Jenna Barrick, doubling-down with volleyball, improved by 1:56 to 25:02 at the meet.

The teams then travelled to Coeur d’Alene where freshman Krysten Mossberg ran a blistering 22:02, setting a personal record and finishing ninth in the meet.

Cody Barrick finished 26th and ran a 19:33 on the 3.1 mile course, a tenth of a mile longer than Montana courses.

But not everything went great, said a tongue-in-cheek head coach Rod Tempel.

“The kids were great,” he said. “But I have to give our bus driver two demerits as we left one minute late and were home 12 minutes early.”

The teams travelled to the Thompson Falls Invite Thursday.
