Consider the achievements: Two interceptions and three offensive receptions during a 48-minute prep football game.

They are the kind of statistics that can be a player’s “career game.” Those stats represent the efforts Friday of Lane Luscher, the Libby Loggers’ senior receiver and defensive back.

Stellar, but not if you asked Luscher.

“For me, it’s disappointing,” said an obviously down Luscher just outside the Loggers locker room after 33-0 loss to Stevensville.

“If the team doesn’t do well, it means nothing.

Despite the great individual effort, Luscher still saw room for improvement.

“Hey, I made some mistakes. I know I can play better,” Luscher said.

“This is just one game. They’re a great team, and I know we’ll bounce back.”

There was added pressure on Luscher, as senior teammates wide receivers and defensive backs Will Reichel and Danny Leggins both were sidelined with injuries.

Reichel is expected to be back for the Whitefish game this week and Leggins may be back by Homecoming the week after.

“We’re progressing each week. I just feel like we’re getting better all the time,” Luscher said.
