Loggers travel to Browning; Troy begins on road

After a tense victory over the Bonners Ferry Badgers last Saturday was helped along by a timely tackle from junior quarterback Jared Winslow, the Loggers head to Browning on Friday to take on the Indians.

Winless last year, Browning already has struggled in its first game, losing to Anaconda 30-18. 

Even so, Libby head coach Neil Fuller isn’t taking the Indians lightly.

“They have really good athletes and a great coaching staff,” Fuller said. “They always come out ready to play. If they get any breathing room at all, they’ll be going to town.”

In Troy, the Trojans will face a familiar opponent in Loyola-Sacred Heart from Missoula on Friday. Last year, the Rams rocked the Trojans 48-26 in Troy, and Jim Dasios’ team will be travelling to Missoula to try and erase last year’s memory. He knows it won’t be easy.

“The first five teams we face all made playoffs last year,” Dasios said. “We’re more interested in winning our district.

Loyola went 8-3 en route to a semi-finals loss to state champions Fairfield. Troy went 2-6.
