Mary M. Hammer, 85, formerly of Libby

Mary M. (Lensing) Hammer, 85, formerly of Troy and Libby, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at her home in Spokane Valley, Wash., with her loving family at her side.   

She was  born April 26, 1927, in Missoula, Mont., to William B. and Sylvia J. (Jaques) Lensing. She grew up and attended school at Deer Lodge, Mont.

She married Peter William Hammer on Aug. 28, 1948, in Great Falls, Montana.

Mary enjoyed bingo, Po-Ke-No, yard sales, bowling, the game show network and most of all her family. She lived at Park Place Independent Living in Spokane for 10 years before moving in with her daughter and granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Sylvia Lensing, her husband Peter, siblings Gordon Lensing, Delores Lensing, Rose Hall, Myra Humphrey, Bill Lensing, grandson Bryan Baker, and sons-in-law Bruce Baker and Dale Bowker.

Survivors include her children Frances Baker, Spokane, Wash.; Betty Warner (Ed), Kalispell, Mont.; Peggy Smith, Spokane Valley, Wash.; Bill Hammer (Karla) Oldtown, Ida.; Rose Bowker, Spokane Valley, Wash.; sisters Sharon Howery, Helena, Mont.; Betty White, Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren O’Lene Rowden, Darryn Baker, Dusty Baker, Scott Warner (Stacy), Joe Warner (Karen), Chrystal Smith, Amber Smith, Heather Erickson, Charity Baker, Travis Hammer, Angela Hammer, Kamy Bowker, Peggy (Jeff) Eveland, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren.

Mass of the Resurrection will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Libby. 

Parish vigil and Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby with visitation from 4 to 7 p.m.
