Do or die games for Loggers, Trojans

Important weeks are in place for the local high school football teams.

Troy will shoot for a second consecutive win, and it will be playing at home against a beatable Thompson Falls squad.

After shutting out the Plains Horsemen last week, the Trojans may have found some confidence. They will be playing for pride and third place in conference against the Bluehawks.

Thompson Falls was beaten handily by Eureka last week, 39-13. The Lions beat Troy earlier this season 36-14. 

Both are one-win teams, behind Bigfork and Eureka in conference and ahead of winless Plains.

Freshman running back Sean Opland will hope to thrash Thompson Falls for four touchdowns again like he did against Plains.

Libby has a doozy of a task, as the 3-5 Loggers still are mathematically alive for a playoff spot.

Libby is 0-3 in conference, but Columbia Falls and Whitefish are 1-2. The Loggers will face Columbia Falls on the road Friday night and not only must win, but win by 17 or more points and hope Frenchtown can take care of business against Whitefish.

Opponents have outscored Columbia Falls this year by 59 points. Libby has been outscored by 84.

The key will be the offense having a landmark game. The Wildcats actually have scored the least points in conference this season, so the defense needs to play solid, but Libby will need to establish the running game and make Columbia Falls play honest defense.
