Broderick receives bachelor's degree

| October 23, 2012 3:58 PM

David Broderick, Registered Technologist and the Imaging Department Manager at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital, recently graduated with his bachelor of science in Advanced Radiologic Sciences from the Apollo College of Phoenix.

While obtaining this degree, Broderick studied courses in cross-sectional anatomy, pathophysiology, psycho-social medicine, cardiology, medical ethics, pharmacology, and patient care and assessment.   He also was required to complete a baccalaureate thesis.

“I feel like this has added greatly to my knowledge base and that I am even better qualified to do patient care, and to do my job as the manager of this department,” said Broderick.

Few technologists choose to pursue a bachelor’s degree, but the additional demands of a manager’s responsibilities and his thirst for knowledge encouraged Broderick to pursue it.

“This degree wasn’t easy to accomplish with the full-time responsibilities at work and home and church.  This prompts me to give this advice to the youth: get your education while you are young.”

Broderick has worked at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital for over 6 years as the manager of the Imaging Department and has been a technologist for nearly 10 years, performing X-Ray, CT, and MRI.  “I am thrilled to work with such a great team and also have the added privilege of being a working manager who functions as a technologist and provides patient care to the good people of Lincoln County.”
