Troy at Plains Two

The Trojans earned their first win this season, and boy what a way to do it.

Troy traveled to Plans and romped over the Horsemen 50-0, guided by freshman running back Sean Opland’s 211 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries. That’s 13.1 yards a carry, for those without calculators.

Attempts to reach Troy head coach Jim Dasios before print were unsuccessful.

Gabe Hickman, Troy’s quarterback, threw for 73 yards, including a 21-yard strike to Luke Haggerty. He rushed eight yards for another scoring play.

Plains bumps to 0-7 while Troy is 1-6 and has a beatable Thompson Falls team this Friday at home.

The Bluehawks are 1-6, the sole win coming off the same Plains team Troy just hammered. Thompson Falls beat the Horsemen 46-0.

The Trojans and Bluehawks share losses with Florence, Bigfork and Eureka. The winner of Friday’s game will move to third in conference.
