| October 16, 2012 11:39 AM

Catherine June Parsons, 91, of Hamilton passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Meadowlark Haven Assisted Living Home in Corvallis.

She was born June 29, 1921, at Maurice in Spearfish Canyon, S.D., the daughter of James and Bessie Christensen.

Catherine was raised in Spearfish and graduated from Spearfish High School in 1939.  She married William L. Parsons of Lead, S.D. in 1941, and they had three children. They remained residents of Lead until 1964 when they moved to Libby.  Catherine was a teller at the United Bank in Libby prior to retiring in 1979 where upon she and Bill moved to their cabin on Savage Lake near Troy.  In 2005 she moved to Hamilton, Mont., to be near family.

She worked in retail sales in Lead and Libby at various times and was co-owner of The Health Hut in Libby.  She was very outgoing and loving and included among her many friends both neighbors and customers wherever she lived and worked.

Catherine enjoyed growing up and raising her family in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota and later enjoyed living in the mountains of NW Montana.  Family gatherings were frequent throughout the years and were cherished.  She loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed time spent at the little cabin on Savage Lake near Troy where the ducks and other wildlife were her daily visitors.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers, husband, son, Raymond Parsons, two daughter-in-laws and a granddaughter.  She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ciliberti (Vito) of Hamilton, MT, son William Parsons Jr. of Vancouver, WA, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
