Elks Hoop Shoot scheduled for Oct. 12

The Elks Hoop Shoot will be Oct. 12 in the Libby Elementary Gym. 

Registration will be from 4 to 5 p.m. The contest will start at 5. 

The competition is open to girls and boys who are 8 years of age on April 1, 2013, through girls and boys who are 13 on April 1, 2013. 

To compete a shooter must have a birth certificate, passport, or baptismal certificate to prove his/her age, and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Each contestant shoots 25 free throws. The shooters compete in three divisions: Eight and nine year old shooters shoot from 11 feet and the two other age divisions shoot from regular free throw distance. 

Each shooter will receive a student pass to the high school football game that night. 

The winners will advance to the district contest in Polson in December.

Last year, Ryggs Johnston of Libby advanced all the way to nationals.
