Second Amendment guarantee is as necessary now as ever
Letter to the Editor,
The 20th of July this last summer marked a dark day for Americans everywhere.
The day of the shooting in Aurora, Colo., during the premiere of the “Dark Knight Rises” shocked and terrified the nation. If even one person at the theater had been carrying a gun, dozens of lives would have been saved.
The day has come where the most basic of tasks must be accompanied with a metal detector and security guard. The world is becoming a darker place, and further controlling the distribution of guns to the point of removing guns from the hands of law-abiding citizens will only decrease the sense of security we hope to achieve in a free nation.
If U.S. citizens are revoked their right to own and carry guns, those who live outside the law will be the only ones to bear arms.
Many of us use guns as a means to provide for our families. One elk is capable of feeding a small family for up to two years.
Hunting is important not only for recreational purposes, but for many it is incorporated into our way of life. As the economy collapses, some will need to find other means to support personal livelihood.
As the world becomes more unstable, why remove something that was originally intended to provide and protect? Keep the best interest of American families in mind. Defend our rights to keep and bear arms.
