MHP still investigating accident that killed 29-year-old man

Police are continuing to investigate the one-car accident that left a 29-year-old Troy man dead Sunday night.

Billy Don Norman, 29, was northbound on Highway 56 about 8:10 p.m. Sunday when his car left the road and rolled over several times.

Norman was driving his 2007 Dodge Caliber northbound when  he veered into the southbound lane of traffic and into the ditch at mile post 26.5.  

Norman’s car rolled several times, ejecting him from the vehicle.  Norman, who was not wearing a seat belt, died of his injuries.

The Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula will determine whether Norman had any intoxicants in his system, as is routine for all fatal crashes.

At this point, the cause of the crash is consistent with a driver swerving around an animal in the road. The road was bare and dry at the time of the crash.

There were no witnesses or other individuals harmed. 

Montana State Trooper Joel Sieler out of Eureka still is investigating the crash.
