| November 14, 2012 10:17 AM

The Lincoln County Library in Libby is offering one-on-one technology sessions; one hour set aside to help with any computer skills needed, from basic computer use to Microsoft Word, using your new Nook, Kindle, or iPad, or searching on the Internet.

Persons needing assistance should talk to Jessie Pate at 283-2472 or the library’s main line at 293-2778 to schedule a one-hour session.

The Libby Library will host story time for preschool age children every Tuesday at 10 am

November is National Novel Writing Month.  The Libby Library will be hosting “NaNoWriMo” Write-Ins Saturdays in November from 2 to 4 p.m.

The library will offer up its meeting room as a quiet place to get some writing in, and will do its best to provide fuel in the form of coffee, tea and snacks.

On Wednesday, Nov. 14, the After-School Program for children ages 6 to 12 meets at 4 p.m.:  Migrate, hibernate, stay put? How do animals get ready for winter? Make your best guess for a bunch of different animals.

On Nov. 17 at 11 a.m., the library is hosting a discussion of the book “The Poisonwood Bible,” by Barbara Kingsolver.  Set in Congo during the country’s fight for independence from Belgium in 1959, the book follows the Price family as they embark on a mission trip to this complex culture.

This tale, by a New York Times-bestselling author, is a “beautiful, heartbreaking, and unforgettable epic” about the disintegration of a family and a nation. Books are available at the library for a two-week checkout.

On Nov. 21, the After-School Program, ages 6 to 12 at 4 p.m.:  Celebrate the harvest with a Thanksgiving treat – make your own snack mix and hear about the harvest traditions in other countries.

On Nov. 24 at noon, the library will show the movie “The Pirates! Band of Misfits.” (PG, animated).  Pirate Captain sets out on a mission with his rag-tag crew to defeat his rivals Black Bellamy and Cutlass Liz for the Pirate of the Year Award.

The quest takes captain and his crew from the shores of Blood Island to the foggy streets of Victorian London.

On Nov. 28, the After-School Program, ages 6 to 12 at 4 p.m.: What’s your favorite dinosaur? Come play archaeologist and learn about some Montana dinosaurs.

October 13 at 12 noon the library will host a “Computers for Beginners” class.  Learn the basics of using a computer, from turning it on to using that pesky mouse. We’ll cover the components of a computer, as well as how to create a file, save it, and reopen it.

The last Friday of every month is Amnesty Day at the Lincoln County Libraries.  This month Amnesty Day is Friday, November 30.  Any materials less than 90 days overdue which are returned in good condition to any of the three libraries on that day will have all penalties waived.  Overdue interlibrary loan materials are not included.

For more upcoming library events, please view the calendar on the Lincoln County Public Libraries website, www.lincolncountylibraries.com.
