Koats 4 Kids finding need for more jackets, gloves

| November 7, 2012 2:03 PM

With winter approaching, some less-fortunate local citizens might find warmer clothes are hard to come by.

That’s where Koats 4 Kids comes in.

The volunteer group collects warm clothes for youngsters to wear during the winter weather.

The need is constant and the help is immediate, says Pam Peppinger, one of the organizers of the group.

“We always need everything,” she said. “Especially boots for smaller kids.”

Peppinger said boots for toddlers to around 8-year-olds are always in high demand, as are mittens and hats for young kids.

“Those younger kids seem to lose them a lot,” Peppinger laughed.

The group also donates to the Special Olympics and goes to the schools to help local families.

Donators can come to Asa Wood on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. Other sites are Libby Drug, Rosauers, Ace Hardware, Managhan’s, Town and Country and Reel Time.
