Verdelle C. Weitzel, 77, of Libby
Verdelle Clara Weitzel, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Libby on Monday, April 30, 2012.
Verdelle was born in Libby on June 11, 1934, to Elmer and Clara Clough. She was the youngest of four children. She was raised and educated in Libby.
Verdelle married Ted Weitzel on July 25, 1953, and together they raised two children. She worked as a telephone operator until 1974 when General Telephone Co. went direct-dial.
She then worked in the laundry department at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 1999.
In later years, she was back at SJLH volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary. She also worked with children as a foster grandparent at Asa Wood Elementary School.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Some of her favorite pastimes included camping and picnicking, driving through backcountry roads, preparing holiday meals, and hosting late-night card games.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted; parents Elmer and Clara Clough; brother Art Clough; and sister Verna Riddle.
She leaves behind her son Ray (Cindy) Weitzel, daughter Debbie Ferch, and brother Bob Clough all of Libby.
Grandchildren Rachelle (Mark) Adamson of Libby, Amanda (Jeff) Noble of Hayden, Idaho, and Jim Ferch of Helena, Mont.
Also surviving are great-grandchildren Morgan and Madison Snyder of Libby as well as Adam, Matthew, and Nathan Noble of Hayden, Idaho. Step great-grandchildren BreeAnna and Luke Adamson of Libby.
Services were at Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home in Libby on Friday, May 4, 2012.
