Burglary suspects nabbed
Sheriff Roby Bowe is citing good police work as the reason his deputies were able to arrest four in connection with a string of home burglaries, and in the process uncovered extensive quantities of drugs in the Bull Lake area.
Beginning April 30, Lincoln County deputies responded to multiple burglaries and thefts in the area.
“As a result of good, old-fashioned police work, we were able to recover property,” Bowe said, specifically mentioning officers Brandon Huff and Brandon Holzer.
“Because of their good efforts, we have charged four people in connection with these crimes,” Bowe said Sunday.
As a result of the search warrant being served on the residence located at 15417 Bull Lake Road, four men were arrested.
During that search, officers uncovered plants believed to be marijuana.
At that point, a second warrant was obtained for the marijuana-grow operation. In all, 27 plants and approximately one pound of marijuana was seized from the residence.
Among those arrested are:
• Joshua Salyards, 21, who is charged with felony possession of dangerous drugs and manufacturing dangerous drugs;
• Michael Shirey, 28, charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of felony theft and felony possession of dangerous drugs;
• James Shirey, 56, charged with felony theft;
• Kevin Payne, 22, charged with burglary and felony theft.
During the continued investigation, deputies recovered several stolen items from an abandoned residence in Moyie Springs, Idaho. Deputies also were able to link the suspects to multiple property crimes in Troy and Sandpoint, Idaho.
Bowe said as the investigation continues, it has become apparent that other crime victims have not been identified.
Persons with information about these crimes or others that could be linked to these are asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 293-4112, Ext. 238.
