John T. Flaten 72, of Libby

John T. Flaten, 72, died on March 10, 2012, at Libby Care Center.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1939, to Guy and Thilda (Hoag) Flaten in Langdon, N.D.

He graduated from the ST Trade School of Science with a degree in refrigeration. He worked as a lineman in North Dakota before he moved to Montana.

He worked as a lineman for Harp Construction. He and his wife, Sherry, moved to Troy where he worked for ASARCO until he retired.

John loved life and would do anything for anyone. He loved to joke around and loved his pet dogs.

He enjoyed riding the golf cart around his property or fishing in Lake Creek. He also liked to ride his snowmobile in the winter.

He will be greatly missed by his best friend and wife, Sherry, of 42 years.

Survivors include his wife Sherry Flaten of Libby; three daughters Tonya and husband Tom; Jamie of Minneapolis, Minn.; Rhea of California; step-daughter Trudi of Twin Falls, Idaho; a brother Jerry Flaten of Arizona; five grandchildren and all his many friends.

A potluck gathering will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the American Legion in Libby.
