With temperatures last weekend abnormally high, Lincoln County Roads Department Supervisor Mark McCully has closed county roads because of the spring thaw known as breakup.

“We’re closing them tomorrow,” McCully said Sunday. “The signs are going up (Monday).”

Libby Ranger District last week closed the following roads to vehicles in excess of 10,000 pounds:

• The Wolf Creek Road No. 36 will be closed from MP 0 to MP 10.19, which is the junction of Syrup Redemption Road No. 2340.

• The Pipe Creek Road No. 68 will be closed from MP 6.9 to MP 16.8, which is the junction of Seventeen Mile Road No. 471.

• The Bear Creek Road No. 278 will be closed from MP 0 at Hwy 2 to MP 3, which is the junction of Cherry Creek Road No. 867.
