Sometimes, in baseball, you just run into a team that is so very hot.

That was the case Tuesday evening at Lee Gehring Field when the Loggers met up with the Mission Valley Mariners, dropping a pair, 9-3 and 6-0.

“Probably,” replied Libby coach Kelly Morford when asked whether the Mariners are the class of the division this year.

It would stand to reason, as coach Jami Hanson’s squad is 18-2 overall and 10-0 in their division.

“They got a lot of balls just behind the infield, and some ground balls got through the infield,” Morford said.

These hot Mariners made losers out of Andrew Haggerty in the first game, as he gave up 10 hits in the nine-run tally.

In the nightcap, Logger ace Jared Winslow fared no better in the 6-0 setback, also giving up 10 hits.

For Hanson, the two wins was more a tribute to his players.

“We’ve been playing some good baseball right now. We’ve got some good kids,” he said.
