District grant helps establish the Logger Leadership Club
Earlier this year, the Libby School District received a $12,000 Corporation for National and Community Service grant to implement a Youth Leaders in Service program.
The Hopa Mountain grant enabled the Libby students to develop a youth-led Logger Leadership Club.
The Leadership Club’s mission was to invest in the Libby community by working to improve education, health and economic development, and strengthen Libby’s sense of community.
“I am proud of how much the youth were able to achieve this year for the community,” said Kaide Dodson, the Logger Leadership Club Advisor.
The recent project included a communitywide effort to restore the McGrade Center’s park and community playground.
The group was able to garner support from other youth organizations, including Libby Christian Church, St. John Lutheran Church, Libby Church of Christ, parents and friends of Logger Leadership Club, and other local volunteers.
