Shame has come to Lincoln County, reader says

| June 11, 2012 4:41 PM

Letter to the Editor,

The controversy over Cabinet View Fire Department has brought shame to our elected officials, County Commissioners, etc.  The problem is the County Commissioners are not listening to the voters.

The ambulance service here is excellent and so are the fire departments, so why pick on CVFD?

Before coming to Libby, I was a volunteer fireman for a small fire department and every fire department I ever saw had EMTs and emergency medical service from the fire department.

So, why not CVFD?  Commissioner Berget just has a problem with them.

What is it without all the smoke and mirrors and lies?  The majority of us have signed a petition to keep our fire department.

I went to Commissioner Berget to inquire about the status of CVFD.  He told me some scary things about a volunteer from our department entering a house without permission to help the ambulance, then he told me about a motorcycle accident that happened on Highway 2 that our personnel moved at the scene.

I investigated both incidents and they are proven wrong, false and just fabricated lies. I presented this information to Berget, he said he already had seen it and did not believe it.

I then scheduled myself to appear at the County Commissioner’s Wednesday meeting to present this information, the meeting was scheduled to start at 10 that morning.  At 9:30 Bill Bishoff called me and told me the Commissioners could not hear me or my evidence of rebuttal because of a lawsuit filed by CVFD. I told Bishoff that I had sued no one and was a taxpayer, he said they won’t hear you.   About one month later, after one person passed out petitions to dissolve CVFD, the Commissioners heard this person right away.

I have contacted the ACLU and have found that my rights have been violated.

Now why is this happening?  Is our fire department a threat to someone?

There are a lot of elderly people in this district who want CVFD to have EMS service.  Why don’t they listen to us?  I have seen the mess that things are in down Troy way and it looks like it is spilling over to Libby through the Commissioner’s Office.

I have been paying $125 a year for over 10 years, if you dissolve the CVFD I and every taxpayer in the district of CVFD want our money back.

I do not like the attacks on our chief.  Why not try telling the truth if you know how?
