The Memorial Tournament at Cabinet View Golf Club on Saturday proved a tight contest for the course’s annual fundraiser, featuring Director of Golf Jeff Dooley squeaking out a two-stroke victory with partner Ryggs Johnston over the hard-charging duo of Joe and Louis Cielak.

Dooley and Johnston finished as tournament champions 8-under the par-72 course, beating out the Cielaks at 6-under to be the top two gross finishers in the Championship flight.

The tournament is an annual tradition for the course, which uses it not only to raise funds but also to honor past members of the golf club.

It is played using two-person scramble rules, which means that a team hits two balls, then plays with the better of the two shots.

In tournament rules, the gross score is the shots added up while the net is total gross score with the handicap subtracted.

In the first flight, the next step removed from the championship flight, Nathan and Jamie Monroe won the gross finishing 5-over. Paul Rexroad and Doug Crum finished second in the flight with 81.

The lowest net score in the Championship Flight was turned in by Dann Rohrer and Chuck Resch with 62.5, and Tom Vanderweel and Kari Martell in the first flight who shot 70.5.
