Marion chief supports the CVFSA
Letter to the Editor,
I write this letter to show support to Cabinet View Department (CVFD).
I have worked with and trained many of their members and hold them in high regard for their skills, honesty and integrity. I have trained numerous members in CPR, EMT B and First Responder per NREMT, MT and AHA standards. I also have been privileged to learn from them in many respects.
One of the most impressive things I have learned is integrity; for CVFD to continue to help their community by volunteering their time and financial well-being when persecuted by so many has taught me a valuable lesson.
When I first learned of this attempt to put CVFD out of business I was shocked to say the least. I thought surely there is a law to stop such blatant stupidity.
Sadly I came to find that it is such a ridiculous act that no one thought to regulate it.
I strongly urge the public to look at the actions of their public officials and ask who is being served. Any elected official is a public servant accountable to his/her voters at the polls.
If they do not have your best interests in mind replace them. To lose so many people who have worked selflessly to help their community may not be criminal but it is truly immoral.
Volunteers are a fleeting thing in the U.S. and to beat down new volunteers just because they do not bend knee to antiquated ideologies is a terrible loss.
In the end, these are your volunteers, close to your home, trained and equipped ready to sacrifice everything for somebody having the worst day of their life.
Cherish them.
