Mayor's e-mail to Olsen reveals agenda, Orr says.

To the Editor,

By now, the email sweeping the Internet wherein Mayor Doug Roll insults and threatens Allen Olsen has been seen by most in this valley.

Mayor Roll tells Councilman Olsen he will delete or block any further emails from your elected official. He doesn’t want to debate the issue, he just wants to issue edicts from his throne.

The mayor brings me into this, calling me names and likening me to Councilman Olsen’s “daddy.”

I am proud to call myself Councilman Olsen’s “brother.”  We belong to the brotherhood of those who have felt the wrath of Doug Roll’s narcissistic rage. Former councilmembers Stu Crismore and Walt McElmurry round out this brotherhood.

Now, the four of us are not troublemakers. The four of us just wanted to do our public service and won election to do so.

Our common denominator is that all of us were targeted for removal from our elected offices by Doug Roll. Mayor Roll likes being surrounded by subservient puppets of his leftist mentality, he will not stand for having his authoritarianism challenged or questioned by intelligent people with integrity.

Doug has failed at every attempt to remove an elected official.

Allen will remain your elected servant.

Mayor Roll’s extremism has not just cost you money, it has cost us faith in the system. He and his council have violated the public trust.

It is codified in Montana law that the holding of public office is a public trust created by the confidence that the electorate has in the integrity of the public officials. A public official must carry out his duties for the benefit of the people.

Mayor Roll announced in the paper recently that he will not acknowledge Councilman Olsen’s election as “legitimate.” Why do we even vote if he can void the election in this manner?

The mayor got too big for his britches this time. He does not have the authority to void an election. In fact, what he did is admit that he refuses to discharge the duties of his office with fidelity. That is an offense that creates a vacancy in his office under MCA 7-4-4111 because he lied when he took his oath.

By refusing to do his job, the mayor has effectively resigned; he is no longer a legitimate elected official.

I would say he has done this to himself, but never forget that he took this extreme action with the advice and consent of the rest of the council. Every one of those people sat there and supported stealing your sacred ballot and they should be held accountable right along with the mayor for the mistreatment of you and your elected official.

This is not just dereliction of duty and violation of oath of office. These people have made a mockery of the greatest political structure ever set forth on the face of the Earth.

Who do they think they are that they believe they are above the rule of law?

Their persistent abuse of the civil and criminal legal system will only get worse if we don’t stop them now.

On the bright side, we get to see the phrase “mad with power” demonstrated clearly.

— DC Orr
