Jacob Job, 91, of Libby
Jacob ‘Jake’ Job passed away the night of Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at his home in Libby.
He was born in Napoleon, N.D., on April 15, 1921, (a German community to where his grandparents had immigrated around World War I) to George and Margaret Werner Job.
He was the fourth of 14 children.
Jake began his school years speaking only German, but soon excelled in English as well. He graduated High School in Sheppard, Mont. He joined the Seabees in World War II and served in the Aleutians and Guam.
In the 1970s, he purchased a Pet Store in Ventura called the ‘Bird Palace” and spent several years operating the business and raising his own pet birds (mainly cockatiels and lovebirds) to sell.
Jake loved to travel and when he sold the Bird Palace and retired, he bought a fifth wheel to tour the country with his wife. He also loved dancing and made sure he stopped at all the polka festivals he could find to include the Corn Palace in South Dakota.
In 2006, after his beloved wife, Mable, passed away, he moved from Oklahoma to Libby to be closer to family.
Jake is survived by his daughter, Laura, and husband, Max Schrader in Troy; his daughter, MaRene Luckey in Richland, Wash.; and his son Kenneth Job in Charleston, W.Va.
He will also be missed by 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; he had a special fondness for great-granddaughter, Kailey. Jake is also survived by sisters Mickie Carlton in Phoenix, Ariz.; Ann Kirschermann in Billings, Montana; Dee Gress in Missoula, Montana and brothers Tony Job in Bullhead City, Arizona; George Job in Park City, Montana; Frank Job in Chewelah, Washington; Ben Job in Stevensville, Montana; Gene Job in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At his request and because he was a very private man, there will be no service. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
