Every year, scores of folks step into a time machine at the Fawn Creek Campground along the Fisher River, heading back to a period between 1820 and 1840.

It was then that the mountain man reigned supreme in the American Wilderness, and the Two Rivers Rendezvous seeks to celebrate and explore this time of independence and reliance on survival skills to get by.

Blackpowder shooting, archery, tomahawk- and knife-throwing were all events to keep guests in the thick of things.

Charlotte Morain, secretary-treasurer of the Kootenai Muzzleloaders, the event’s sponsor, said there were 65 contestants.
