Phil Morrison, Sr., 61, of Libby

Phil Morrison, Sr., 61, passed away peacefully at his home in Libby on Sunday, July 15, 2012. 

He was born March 28, 1951, at Port Arthur, Texas, to Fillmore and Christine (Smith) Morrison.  He grew up and graduated in Dayton, Texas.  He later moved to Florida where he met and married Rayetta Tangen.  They moved to Libby in 1983.

Phil’s passion was rodeo.  He was an avid bull rider and rodeo clown for many years.  He was the East Texas Rodeo Association Clown of the Year in 1977.  

He worked at various oil refineries and off shore drilling rigs.  

In Florida, he worked for the Florida State Department of Agriculture testing cattle for brucellosis throughout the state.  When he moved to Libby, he became a logger. 

Phil enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his 4-wheeler.  He always enjoyed a good joke and visiting with all his friends at the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Rayetta Morrison, of Libby; his son P.J. Morrison of Billings, Mont.,; his daughters Beth Morrison and friend Brian Erickson of Libby; Danielle Masters and husband R.J. of Libby; grandchildren Austin, Katlyn, Zack, Tucker and RaeLynn, all of Libby; his brother Randy Morrison and wife Nancy; nephew Josh Morrison and wife Alyssa; and nieces Venus Morrison and Holly Magnatta all of Florida; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.  

A reception will follow at the American Legion.
