Federal investigation really is not the solution, a reader says

Letter to the Editor,

I don’t like to get into controversies between good people with opposing opinions. However, when this entitlement generation comes forward with their “common sense” and “fairness” agenda I can’t ignore them.

The volunteer fire, search and rescue and ambulance department were grassroot organizations formed to fill a need in Lincoln County with nothing but goodwill, hard work and the backing of the community.

Now, that they have reached a point where they exist, at a professional level, with all the best equipment to do their job, everyone comes out of the woodwork with their hand out for their “share” of the pie.

Janet Miller wants a “federal investigation!”

Wow! That would be the end for everyone. Fifty years of hard work, donations and good\will down the drain.

If the federal government came in and imposed their rules and regulations, we would not be able to afford a fire or ambulance department!

Tony Berget, a life-long resident, and the county commissioners are right, the taxpayers cannot afford more than one ambulance department.

The new generation does not realize what a “jewel” we have with our volunteers!

They answer every call that comes in, no matter where they live. I personally would like to thank them for all their years of personal sacrifices without compensation.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for a job well done.
