Ardith E. Mehus, 91, of Libby

Ardith E. Mehus, 91, of Libby passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Libby Care Center of natural causes.  

She was born Aug. 16, 1920, at Thief River Falls, Minn., to Tilfred and Millie (Asplund) Reierson.  Ardith grew up in Thief River Falls, graduating from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1938.

She attended Augsburg Lutheran College in Minneapolis, Minn., where she earned a teaching certificate.  

She then attended Mrs. Woods’ Kindergarten Training School.  Ardith taught school for more than 10 years before marrying Alfred Mehus on June 7, 1952, in Thief River Falls, Minn.  

She was very active in her church.  She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the church choir.  

In 1998, Ardith moved to Libby.  

Ardith was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, in 2004; her son-in-law, Bob Rasmusson, in 2003; and her parents.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Kay Rasmusson, of Libby; sons Steve Mehus of St. Paul, Minn., and Tim Mehus and wife, Linel, of Woodbury, Minn.; a brother, Milton Reierson, of Thief River Falls, Minn.; and grandchildren R.J., Cameron, Lacey, Chris, Brian, Kelsey, and Anna.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Faith Bible Church in Libby, 239 Education Way.  

Service for Ardith will follow at 11 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Faith Bible Church.
