Reader skeptical of Leavell's sincerity, blames CVFSA brass

| July 6, 2012 2:41 PM

Letter to the Editor,

Enough is enough. The arrogance and grandstanding, although appalling, was not unexpected of Mr. Leavell, CVFD Chief, at the last public hearing.

The play to public emotion and the attempt to redirect blame onto other volunteer organizations has been typical of the CVFD leadership.

The locals’ fear of going without fire protecton has been so misleading. The truth being twisted and smoke screening from the public.

Public records of what agencies have responded to fires in the CVFS indicate that, not only does LVFD arrive on scene, but also the USFS arrives, with the appropriate manpower and equipment, prior to CVFD in their own service area.

They want the public to believe that they can speed through town, often bypassing Libby Volunteer Ambulance station, and get to medical calls first?

Mr. Leavell pleads publicly for all agencies to get along and work together, portraying CVFD as the victim of some feud or conspiracy.

The truth is that CVFD leadership has circumvented the laws, defied local and state authority, distributed and endorsed negative and slanderous publicity about other volunteer organizations, and yet claim ignorance as to why other volunteer organizations, like LVFD and LVA, who are in good standing with local and state government, don’t want to get involved with them.

Seems pretty obvious when you look at the facts.
