| July 6, 2012 3:12 PM

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks’ Becoming an Outdoors Woman Program is sponsoring a one-day workshop in Plains, at the Sanders County Fairgrounds, July 21, that will introduce participants to a variety of outdoor skills.

Half-day sessions include handgun basics and woodworking. Other class choices are archery, archeology of Sanders County, Dutch oven cooking, fly fishing, horseback riding, map and compass, ATV basics, Montana native plants, photography, trap shooting, and wilderness first aid.

Participants must be 18 years of age or more. Registration is $30, and scholarships are available based on need. The workshop fee includes instruction, equipment and materials, a continental breakfast, light lunch, and late afternoon snack.

For details and to register, call Cynthia Boehler at 531-7607, or email: nwmtbow@gmail.com .

If a Montanan is unable to attend the Sanders County session, the Becoming an Outdoor Woman Program’s annual three-day workshop and camp will be held near Bigfork this year Aug. 17-19.

“BOW participants will be excited to hear about this beautiful new site for the annual BOW camp,” said Liz Lodman, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks BOW coordinator.

The summer BOW workshop offers opportunities to learn about and practice a variety of new outdoor skills. Participants attend four classes of their choice taught by volunteer instructors in a supportive, safe, and non-competitive learning environment.

The workshop registration fee of $175 - $205 includes lodging, meals, 4 classes, instructional materials, and equipment.

To register, call Liz Lodman at 406 444-9940, or go to the FWP Website at fwp.mt.gov on the Education page and select Becoming An Outdoors Woman to print a registration form.
