Grant application deadline nears to apply for trail funding
- Montana State Parks (stateparks.mt.gov) is reminding potential applicants statewide that the deadline is approaching to submit grant applications for the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) and the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) program.
The grant application deadline is Wednesday, Aug.1, extended from the traditional date of July 1. The change is being implemented to the RTP program transitioning to an online grant management system, allowing slightly more time for potential applicants.

RTP and OHV Program applicants can include federal, state, county or municipal agencies, private associations and clubs (not individuals).
Eligible projects for RTP include: development of urban trail linkages near homes and work places; construction and maintenance of trails; development of trailside and trailhead facilities; ethics education and interpretive programs; and weed control efforts along trails and trailhead areas.
Eligible OHV projects include, but are not limited to: maintenance of existing OHV trails; signing; ethics education; noxious weed control adjacent to OHV trails; and related projects benefiting OHV activities in Montana.
