District 4 School Board members on Monday unanimously approved May 8 as the date for trustee election.

Board members also approved the option that will allow for the polling place to be at the Central Administration Building at 724 Louisiana Ave., which is a change from previous elections.

The reason for the change is the impending demolition of part of the Asa Wood building.

The board made it clear it does not want residents exposed to potential dust materials that may result from the demolition.

Three of the seven board positions expire this year, those of  Lee Disney, Ellen Johnston, and Bruce Sickler.

All are for three-year terms.

Asked about the candidates’ intent to run again, and Johnston responded, “I don’t think we’ve decided yet.

Should there only be three candidates, the election will not be held.
