Duane A. Whitehouse 93, of Libby

Duane Alfred Whitehouse, 93, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 29, 2012 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital of natural causes. 

He was born Aug. 10, 1918 in Polson, MT to Alfred and Monica (Sheu) Whitehouse. 

Duane was raised in Polson and moved to Libby in 1940, where he met and married Mildred Baeth. 

They were married 68 wonderful years. 

Duane served four years in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Puerto Rico. 

He worked at the mill for 40 years and was well known for his sense of humor and gift of gab. He loved to visit people! 

His favorite passions in life were spending time at the cabin on Bitterroot Lake, fishing, hunting, and camping. 

He enjoyed carpentry, tinkering in his wood shop, and playing horse shoes. 

He liked watching sports on television with his wife, Mildred. 

He will be missed by many family and friends. 

Duane was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth.

Duane is survived by his wife Mildred of Libby, Mont.; sons Roy Lucas of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Kent Whitehouse of Libby, Mont.; daughter Sara of Libby, Mont.; grandchildren Erik Aver, Jackie and Heidi, and three sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday Feb. 3, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, 200 W. Larch in Libby, Mont. 

Visitation will be from

1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home, 422 W. 2nd St, Libby.
