Troy girls wins first game against Noxon, Libby girls still battling injuries

Troy girls: The Lady Trojans picked up their first win with a 36-20 walk over Noxon on Saturday. 

Junior point guard Kellie Lundin led all scorers with 14 for the Lady Trojans. 

Troy had lost the day before to Plains, 36-26, after leading 21-8 at the half. Senior forward Jordan Williams led all scorers in that game with 14. Senior guard Alanah True-Silva had 9.

The Trotters outscored Troy 28-5 in the second half, and the Lady Trojans fell to a second loss.

The Noxon game was better for several reasons, because even though accuracy was low, Troy was able to grab offensive rebounds to get second chances.

Senior center Michaela Curry was dominant in the post and had eight points of her own. Williams had six. 

Troy will face off with Libby, 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Libby girls: A team spread thin was made more so when sophomore wing Devon Gallagher sprained her ankle in the third quarter of a 49-22 girls basketball loss to Flathead.

She finished the day with just two points, scored in the first quarter.

The loss bumps the Lady Loggers down to 0-3 on the season.

The Bravettes’ Emma Andrews led all scorers with 14 points, and helped boost her team to a 25-14 lead at half time. 

Sophomore wing Dalyn Germany led Libby with eight points, sophomore wing Hailey Craig had five, senior guard Kaitlyn Gilder had four and sophomore guard Hannah England hit a 3-pointer before fouling out.

The team played six freshmen, highlighting how injuries have ravaged the young team.

Libby will play in Troy 5:30 Thursday.
