Libby’s basketball teams had a rough go at the Northwestern/Southwestern A Tipoff Tournament this weekend, each limping away with two losses.

Libby’s boys first took a shot at the Corvallis Blue Devils, but after being held scoreless in the first quarter, even Jared Winslow’s 20 points couldn’t catch them up and the Loggers lost 36-32.

The second game was less forgiving.

The Stevensville Yellowjackets pounded Libby, 64-34. The Loggers were down 14 at the half, and only scored 16 after intermission.

Winslow led all scorers again with 18 points.

The girls team didn’t fare much better, losing a tight one, 28-27, to the Lady Blue Devils.

Hannah England led the Lady Loggers with seven points. Six Libby athletes scored, but Corvallis’ Lakyn Connors notched 16 points to push her team ahead.

Stevensville continued its bruising play behind Montana Lady Griz recruit Alycia Sims with 18 points in the 48-27 win over Libby.

England led the Lady Loggers with 10 points. Hailey Craig had seven and Hailey Moe six.

Libby was outscored 18-3 in the second quarter.

The teams face off against Kalispell and Flathead teams at home Saturday.
