Improving Sidewalks

Chance Jordan and Chuck Riley, kneeling, with Riley Excavating and Concrete, prepare the sidewalk underlay so an additional stretch of concrete can be placed on Fourth Street near its intersection with Mineral Avenue. The two were working on the walkways Monday afternoon with hopes of completing both sides of the Fourth Street sidewalk by Saturday. The project is a joint effort by businesses and the city. Businessmen Mike Noble (north side) and Mark Managhan (south side) each contributed to the pair of 165-foot stretches of walk adjacent to their buildings. The city provides the new curbing and rock for the project in this joint-renovation project.
