During Wednesday morning’s Lincoln County Commissioners meeting, Mike Cirian, the on-site remedial manager for the EPA, told officials the agency “on Thursday or Friday” would remove its 1-millionth cubic yard of soil in the on-going cleanup of Libby.
“Actually, when you consider we replace the soil we remove with other soil, it’s actually, our 2-millionth cubic yard,” Cirian said.
Officials from the EPA update the commissioners monthly on the progress in Libby and around Lincoln County.
Ciran said crews continue to work on remediation, but most of the large jobs have been completed, and the EPA in bringing in additional investigative teams to keep cleanup crews busy.
