Tushaus Aims at Javelin Record MontanaÕs sports enthusiasts are keeping their eyes on LibbyÕs John Tushaus, who has registered some outstanding javelin throws this year. In the last two years, as a sophomore ad as a junior, Tushaus won the javelin event at the Interscholastic meet in Missoula, and he is expected to repeat in 1962. In winning first place in the event last year, Tushaus also established a Class B state record, 191 feet 3 inches. In unofficial competition he has thrown the spear 221 feet 4 inches, far beyond the official Montana record of 203 feet 8-1/2 inches, held by Ken Christianson of Kalispell. Tushaus will be one of the Logger trackmen who will compete in the Northwestern Class B divisional meet at Polson Saturday. Photo from the May 17, 1962, files of The Western News.
