Dale E. Stoddard, 91, of Libby

Dale E. Stoddard, 91, of Libby died Saturday March 31, 2012, in Libby from natural causes.  

He was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Ogden, Utah, to Roy Dillree and Lucinda Brooks.  

He grew up and attended school in Ogden and attended Ogden High School.  He served in the U.S. Army from August 1944 to November 1945.  

During his time in the service, he earned numerous medals including The Bronze Battle Star, Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart. 

He married Barbara Purrington on May 31, 1946, in Ogden, Utah. Dale worked for the railroad for a number of years inspecting cars.  He then opened Ogden City Shops which he operated for many years.   

His wife Barbara preceded him in death on June 4, 1998.  He moved to Montana in 2000.  He met LuRee Fuller and they were married in 2001 in Ronan, Mont.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and painting. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, a daughter Brenda, stepson Randy Leir and 14 brothers and sisters and their spouses.  

Survivors include his wife LuRee Stoddard of Libby; son Steve DeHaan of Banning, Calif.; daughter Marcia Brenner and husband Joe of Ogden, Utah; a step-daughter Debbie Becker of Libby; seven grandchildren Layne, Stacey, Amy, Chris, Ashley, Katie, and Kyle; and six great-grandchildren; brothers in-law Gale Bernardy and wife Gayle, San Pablo, Calif.; Neil Bernardy and wife Rhea, Libby; and sister-in-law Lynne Stapleton and husband Mel, Spokane, Wash.  

Funeral services will be held in Ogden, Utah.
