Mavis A. Darko 81, of Cascade

Mavis Annabelle (McDonald) Darko, 81,

of Cascade, a retired elementary school teacher, died of natural

causes Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls.

She was raised in the Winifred area and

graduated in 1947 from Winifred High School. She received a

two-year certificate in elementary education from Northern Montana

College in Havre in 1949.

Her memorial service is 2 p.m. Tuesday

at Cascade Methodist Church, with burial of ashes in Hillside

Cemetery. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford

Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mavis was born March 13, 1930, in

Lewistown, to John and Anna (Trotter) McDonald.

She married Paul “Dude” Darko on Jan.

2, 1951, in Belt, where they began their married life, and raised

four children.

Mavis is survived by her children Paula

(Bob) Darko-Hensler of Libby, Patty (Doc) Sargent of Troy, Dana

(Star) Darko of Great Falls, Kevin Darko of Cascade; nine

grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her

parents; her husband of 40 years, Dude Darko, five siblings,

Donald, James, Hazel, Helen, and an infant sister who died at

birth.

Memorials may be made to Cascade United

Methodist Church or to Farm in the Dell, P.O. Box 1273, Great

Falls, Mont.
