Betty Luscher 99, of Libby
Betty Lampton Luscher, 99, a longtime
resident of the Kootenai Valley, died Sept. 27, 2011, in Libby.
She was born in Eureka on Jan. 15,
1912, to Fred Lampton and Bertha Frost Lampton.
She attended schools in Eureka and
Libby, graduating from Libby High School.
She married Charles E. Luscher on Oct.
14, 1930. From this union are three children, Charles W. (Bill)
Luscher and wife Catherine of Bigfork, Mont.; James R. Luscher and
wife Yvonne of Libby and Cheryl L. Wood and husband Francis of
Kuna, Idaho.
Also surviving are her eight
grandchildren, Jennifer Hurshman (Tom), Pamela Cushman (Mitchell),
Molly Edwards (Steve), Scott Luscher (Holly), Eric Luscher
(Colleen), Erin Reed (Rick), Barry Wood (Bridget) and Dana Bourland
(Gary); also surviving are 16 great-grandchildren, four step-great
grandchildren and a step great, great-grandchild.
Preceding Betty in death were her
husband Charles in 1990; five brothers and three sisters.
Betty devoted her life to being a wife,
mother and grandmother and family continued to be one of the most
important things in her life until the time of her death.
Until her death, Betty was the oldest
surviving member of the United Methodist Church in Libby.
Services were 1 p.m. Monday at the
United Methodist Church with Rev. Brent Wepprecht officiating;
committal services will follow at the City of Libby Cemetery.
Family and friends called at the
Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and
until 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to the United
Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
