Highway 37 to get resurfaced in 2012

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking public comments on a proposal to resurface about 8.1 miles of Highway 37, northeast of Libby. 

The project begins approximately 0.6 miles northeast of the Kootenai River Bridge, at reference marker 1.5 and extends easterly for 8.1 miles ending approximately 0.8 miles east of the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Kootenai River Access at reference marker 9.6.

Proposed work includes applying a seal & cover (chip seal) on the roadway surface, upgraded pavement markings, and replacement of the signage. 

The purpose of the project is to extend the service life of the highway and take a cost-effective action to preserve and maintain the existing highway.

The public can expect single-lane closures in the project area during working hours.

More information regarding closures will be made available prior to the beginning of construction.

No property acquisition or utility relocations are anticipated for this project.

Construction is expected to begin in 2012, depending on availability of funding and completion of design.
