Volunteers Ricki Yeager, left, and Kate Huntsberger were working the Kiwanis-sponsored Koats 4 Kids effort Wednesday at Asa Wood Elementary School. The Kiwanis collect used coats and redirect them to needy children in the community. Huntsberger said the effort has a strong need for children’s boots, as evidenced by the empty racks behind them. Persons needing coats may stop by the former elementary school from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Boots also may be dropped off at that time. While the clothing effort is sponsored by the Kiwanis, Huntsberger said volunteers to staff the distribution are provided by Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
